Explorador Británico por Africa central, en donde encontró al desaparecido David Levingston, que fue un medico Britanico dedicado al estudio cientifico en Africa.. Fue uno de los fieles colaboradores del rey Leopoldo II de Bélgica en las atrocidades cometidas en la exploración del Congo.
