Estuvo asistido por otros historiadores como, Peregrine O'Clery, Fergus O'Mulconry y Peregrine O'Duignan. Nació en Kilbarron, cerca de Greevy, entre Rossnowlagh y Ballyshannon, en la bahía de Donegal.
