Antal Bánhidi era un aviador húngaro. Antal Bánhidi nació en Szatmárnémeti, entonces parte del Imperio austrohúngaro. En 1920, huyó de Rumania nadando a través del río Szamos y llegó a Hungría. Asistió a la Universidad Técnica de Budapest, donde ayudó a establecer EMESE, el club de vuelo de la universidad.
