Ernst Thälmann (1886-1944), fue un político alemán miembro del Partido Comunista de Alemania, del cual fue dirigente después del Levantamiento Espartaquista, durante la República de Weimar. En 1933 lo arrestó la Gestapo, y permaneció encarcelado en confinamiento solitario durante 11 años.
