Georg Christoph Lichtenberg (1742-1799), fue un científico y escritor alemán. Fue profesor de la Universidad de Gotinga, donde a su vez en su juventud tuvo en su misma función a Gotthelf Kästner. Dirigió misiones astronómicas en Hannover y en Osnabrück. Como científico fue el primer profesor de física experimental de Alemania.
