Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen (1845-1923), fue un ingeniero mecánico y físico alemán, de la Universidad de Wurzburgo. El 8 de noviembre de 1895 produjo radiación electromagnética en las longitudes de onda correspondiente a los actualmente llamados rayos X.
