Este sello es parte de una serie de 17 valores que lleva el rostro del ex general Paul von Hindenburg, 2° Presidente de la República Alemana. A diferencia de otro sello idéntico emitido en 1933 (antes del régimen nazi) cuyo sello de agua era similar a un tipo “waffle", éste tiene como sello de agua la esvástica nazi. El diseño es de Karl Goetz (1875-1950).
